We are continuously willing to help, but we propose these four simple tips to test your furnace before giving us a call:
- Thermostat setting – The most significant part of a furnace is to make a comfy and cozy climate for your home. So when it cools off for good, make sure you’ve changed your thermostat over to ‘heat.’
- Furnace switch – Your furnace power is composed by a switch that looks like a regular light switch, and should be turned on. If it’s not on, flip it on and hold a few minutes. A majority of furnaces have a built-in time delay and your furnace won’t turn on instantly after flipping on the switch.
- Filter – Furnace filters are an imperative part to your system. Not only does it filter out particles, dust and other contaminants, it impacts your furnace’s talent as well. We recommend changing out filters every three months to notice the best results.
- Circuit breaker – It’s common that the breaker designated for your furnace has been tripped. Go to your circuit breaker panel and check to see if the switch has been tripped. If it has, cycle it by turning it off and then back on. You may have to wait a few minutes for the time-delay to pass before your furnace kicks back on. If you do this and your furnace still isn’t starting, give us a call and we can help figure out what is happening with your furnace so we can get it back up and running.
