The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Corporate Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last September, I had the chance to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was created by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent much of her childhood wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they get to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume assistance along with budgeting and job classes to help people get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even showed our group their amazing facility,” Wilson said.
